Howard County Manufacturing Firm Purchased by Employees

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman today praised the new owners of Elkridge Coating Technologies LLC (ECT) for buying a local business and preserving manufacturing jobs that were headed off shore.

Howard County Unemployment Remains Lowest in State

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman today announced that Howard County’s unemployment rate for February 2014 was 4.2 percent, the lowest in the state and down slightly from January’s 4.3 percent figure.

Howard County Executive Ulman Tours New Home of Feld Entertainment

Feld Entertainment, Inc., the company that produces Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey®, Monster Jam®, Monster Energy Supercross, Nuclear Cowboyz®, AMSOIL Arenacross, Disney On Ice, Disney Live! and Marvel Universe LIVE! in more than 70 countries and on six continents is making a major investment in Howard County. The company has signed a 10 year lease to relocate and consolidate its national distribution facility for consumer products in the Baltimore Washington Industrial Park in Jessup, MD. Sixty employees will move to the new distribution center from existing facilities in Howard County.

Another cyber firm picks Columbia for headquarters

A cyber security company with more than 45 employees across the U.S. has picked Columbia for its headquarters. Jovian Concepts has signed a six-year lease for 3,000 square feet at 6700 Alexander Bell Drive. The office space in Columbia will be the company’s first physical office space. President Richard A. Scheper had been operating the business from his home in Baltimore County.
