Executive Ulman Helps Break Ground on Major New Project for Downtown Columbia

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman helped break ground today for Little Patuxent Square, a major commercial and residential project that is a key part of the next wave of growth in Downtown Columbia. Being developed by LPP Investors and constructed by Costello Construction of MD, Inc., Little Patuxent Square is the first major commercial building to be constructed in Downtown Columbia in more than a decade. Most of the Class A office space has already been leased, and the project will be built to high efficiency standards.

Senator Mikulski Reviews Howard County Innovation Jobs Efforts During Visit Led by Councilwoman Watson

Senator Barbara A. Mikulski Monday reviewed Howard County’s newest innovation jobs development efforts during a visit to the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship with Howard County Council Vice-Chairperson Courtney Watson.

County Executive Ulman Announces that Ellicott City Poised to be Named Main Street Maryland Community

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman today announced his support for Ellicott City Main Street to be named a Main Street Maryland community, a state and local partnership that comes with access to a menu of community development resources. The designation will create a framework for improved marketing and financial opportunities for the historic district that will ensure its future vitality.

New Advisory Board Chair Named at Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship

The Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) is proud to announce that Judy L. Harris, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Connections, LLC, has been named Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship (MCE).

8/01/14 12:00 PM Join the Howard Tech Council for our free HTC Membership 101 Lunch! 

3D Maryland: Introduction to Solidworks

8/04/14 5:30 PM Students learn through an introductory project that will cover the basics of SolidWorks. The class will cover how to extrude, cut, sweep and loft in SolidWorks to create a single part. The class culminates in a 3D print-out of the model made in class.

"Imagine This!": 3D Printing Primer Seminar

8/05/14 8:00 AM This seminar is an introduction to the world of 3D printing: what it is, how it works, materials, uses, case studies and more! Seminars are one hour in length with 40 minutes of presentation and 20 minutes for questions and answers. Start with coffee and networking from 8:00 - 8:30, followed by a brief tour of the 3D Maryland lab. The seminar will run from 8:30-9:30AM and finish with another round of networking from 9:30-10:00AM.

3D Maryland Workshop: Design and Print

8/05/14 12:00 PM This hands-on workshop is designed to provide a basic introduction to 3D modeling software through a project-based learning approach. Students will be able to print a simple project they design in class. Workshops run from 12:00 - 1:00PM and are hands-on. The final product is available for purchase for an additional fee. The software used is Autodesk 1234 Design.

3D Maryland Modeling Software Primer, "If You Can Design It..."

8/06/14 8:00 AM This seminar is an introduction to a variety of computer aided design software packages used in creating a 3-dimensional model for 3D printing. This seminar will give brief introductions to freeware, industry standard software and leading edge software.
