The Daily Record Announces 2014 Influential Marylanders

Columbia, Md., (February 5, 2014 ) — The Daily Record’s 2014 listing of Influential Marylanders includes two employees from the Howard County Economic Development Authority.
Julie Lenzer Kirk, Executive Director of the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship and Jan Baum, Director of 3D Maryland are among 53 honorees selected by the editors of The Daily Record for their significant contributions to their respective fields and for their leadership in Maryland. The categories included civic leadership, communications, education, finance, freestyle, health care, law, philanthropy, real estate and technology. The Daily Record launched Influential Marylanders in 2006.
“We are well aware of the dynamic leadership of both Julie and Jan here at the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA), and now the entire state of Maryland will know about their tremendous accomplishments,” said Lawrence F. Twele, HCEDA Chief Executive Officer. “Their contributions in the field of technology are helping us launch new businesses, create jobs, and drive innovative economic development. The recognition from the Daily Record is well deserved and we applaud the paper for acknowledging all of the talented individuals being honored.”
Two of the honorees, Chet Burrell, president & CEO of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, president of University of Maryland Baltimore County, were named to the Circle of Influence. Honorees that have been selected for the third and final time join the Circle of Influence.

The winners will be honored on Thursday, March 27, at a reception at The Grand Lodge, 304 International Circle in Cockeysville. Winners will be profiled in a special magazine that will be inserted into the Friday, March 28, issue of The Daily Record and available online at www. TheDailyRecord.com.
