Ron Gula Speaks at the Howard Tech Council (HTC) Cyber Security Trailblazer Series Event

On February 28th, 2019, the Howard Tech Council (HTC) hosted the Cyber Security Trailblazer Event featuring Ron Gula, President of Gula Tech Adventures and co-founder of Tenable Network Security & Network Security Wizards.
The event was held at the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) where local professionals and cyber enthusiasts mingled over drinks and appetizers, discussing the future of cyber. The conversation continued into a shared space where individuals could ask questions and engage with Gula in a lively conversation around the cybersecurity issues of today. Topics discussed ranged from curiosities looming around AI to cybersecurity threats facing nation-states.
Tackling current threats is an ongoing necessity in the Cyber Security landscape; Gula spoke on the need to examine what’s missing in the market that’s needed to solve problems facing our nation today. “I’m interested in problems where there are no products currently available to solve them.”
Currently, Gula Tech Adventures invests and advises approximately 30 different Cyber Security Companies. Those companies can largely be placed into one of two categories: those which aim to solve “cyber hygiene” issues and those which simulate nation-states. In both cases, Gula discussed the growing need for good coaching of employees in an ever-evolving technology market.
Gula Tech Adventures invests in early cyber start-ups to help scale up their teams, support their customers and overcome challenges of the very competitive cyber market — “if you start from zero and want to build a secure network, Gula Tech Adventures understands the fundamental laws of cyber security.”
