HCEDA To Host Industry Leading Entrepreneurship Training at Howard County Innovation Center

Monday, July 1, 2019

The Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) is bringing the popular Kauffman FastTrac® Course to the Howard County Innovation Center for the first time, at a special introductory rate.

In this 10-week guided program, aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs will develop and refine a business concept, taking it through each step of the business planning process. Participants will learn about identifying a business concept and matching it with a real market opportunity, setting realistic financial goals for your business, identifying a target market, determining steps to profitability along with potential funding sources, and other important business skills.

“This is an excellent opportunity for any early stage business owner or aspiring entrepreneur to get a crash course on everything they need to know to get off the ground,” said Director of Loan Programs & Entrepreneurial Services, Beth A. Woodring, who is also a Certified Kauffman Facilitator. “We are pleased to be bringing this service to the residents of Howard County and look forward to helping more people start their business.”

At the end of the course all participants will be provided the opportunity to participate in a business pitch competition with their fellow classmates. The top three pitches will receive the following:

• 1st Place: $1000 + $250 Course Fee Refund + 3 Month Innovation Center Affiliate Membership
• 2nd Place: $250 Course Fee Refund + 3 Month Innovation Center Affiliate Membership
• 3rd Place: 3 Month Innovation Center Affiliate Membership

The course will begin on July 17 and will be held on the following 10 Wednesday nights from 5:30 – 9:00, with a light dinner served. The course is being offered at a special introductory rate of $250, with fees included. Interested parties can learn more or register for the course at kauffman-ft-bb.eventbrite.com.
