Howard County Economic Development Authority Launches Minority Owned Business Directory

Thursday, February 10, 2022

Howard County is known for its diverse community and high quality of life which makes it a premier destination to work, live, and do business in the region. While our business community is also quite diverse, it is important to create opportunities that support the growth of the small, minority businesses that serve as the economic engine for our County.

In response to requests from the community, the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new business directory for local, minority-owned businesses. This community-driven resource was created to help support Howard County minority businesses by providing an easy, centralized way to locate local, small, minority businesses who provide a wide variety of professional services right in your neighborhood. This free resource allows you to browse business listings by industry, minority-ownership, and location.

The Minority Business Directory is an initiative of HCEDA’s Racial Equity and Inclusion Committee, which was formed in April 2020 during a sensitive time period following major world events surrounding racial injustice and the unprecedented closure of businesses across the nation due to the COVID pandemic. Since the creation of the committee, HCEDA has implemented several new strategies to engage local minority businesses:

Together with the direction and support of our Board of Directors, stakeholders, and community, we are working to prioritize our efforts to increase minority business engagement and create more opportunities for small, minority businesses to succeed in Howard County.
