A Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship (MCE) Resident Kaizen Approach, Inc. (KAI) is expanding out of the incubator into to their first corporate office space in Hanover, Md located in Howard County. The cybersecurity consulting firm has been operating within the MCE since January of 2013. During their time at the MCE, KAI grew from 12 to 31 employees.

KAI is a verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) founded by Al Pickering. Over the last nine years, KAI has evolved into a customer-focused company providing quality Cyber Security and Learning and Development Solutions to commercial and government customers based on the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen, often translated as to become good through change.

Founder and CEO of Kaizen Approach, Inc. Al Pickering said “Through the MCE & HTC, the HCEDA has been an invaluable partner with Kaizen Approach over the last five years. Their business knowledge, leadership, and willingness to assist KAI in achieving our corporate goals has been instrumental in KAI graduating from the MCE to our first corporate office space.”

“It’s great to see companies like Kaizen growing with the MCE, gaining market success, and then moving to a new space in the community” said HCEDA CEO, Lawrence Twele. “We’re proud their new space will remain in Howard County and the HCEDA and MCE looks forward to our continued partnership and collaboration.”

The MCE will soon relocate to be part of the new Howard County Innovation Center. Currently, it is home to 23 resident companies and provides a menu of client services for small businesses in the community. The MCE provides a robust, interactive community of innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and advisors collaborating to successfully ignite innovation and launch high-growth companies in an entrepreneurial ecosystem abundant with resources.

“The MCE support staff is outstanding and a joy to work with,” said Richard Tait, COO of KAI. “Through the MCE, Kaizen Approach has been able to work with business mentor, Russell Teter, who brought a wealth of business knowledge, organizational skills, and an accountability system that drives our company goals.”
